UDO Enterprise

UDO for SAP PI/PO®

SAP PI/PO® has been widely adopted by SAP customers for integrating SAP and non- SAP systems, with many installations’ interfaces numbering into the thousands. Keeping track of these interfaces in the past has been a challenge, with many companies relying on unreliable and costly manual updates of local databases, or Excel spreadsheets.

UDO for SAP PI/PO is a client based Java software tool, designed to give you greater visibility over your PI interface landscape. With UDO, it is a simple exercise to quickly review your interface information. UDO uses SAP standard APIs & web services to extract all SAP PI Directory Objects, as well as SLD, ESR and TPM objects, presenting them in an ‘Excel like’ user interface, where you can search, sort, filter, archive, and even export to Excel. You can even export all of your ICOs to Excel, down to receiver level, creating an interface catalog and allowing you to easily update your interface owners lists and databases. If you are a heavy user of SAP Trading Partner Management (TPM), then you will benefit from UDO’s Trading Partner Management reporting.

UDO has many other powerful features such as the ESR Object Comparison across your PI systems that helps you ensure effective transport and change management, and the Directory Objects View across your landscape to help you understand where your interfaces are configured.

The unique Automatic Documentation feature will save a huge amount of effort, especially with PI/PO migration projects. Using docx templates that can be customized to your requirements, UDO delivers consistent technical documentation in the process (sample_documentation). Included is SAP PI/PO Message Mapping documentation, so non-technical people can understand the mapping.  And another cool feature, again to help your non-technical people, is UDO’s Interface Flow Diagrams, giving a visual depiction of your Scenario, ICO or iFlow. UDO’s Migration Assessment Report facilitates any migration from SAP PI/PO – whether to SAP CI/CPI, or to Mulesoft, Boomi or other integration platforms.

UDO’s Message Mapping Comparison, building up on the mapping documentation previously mentioned, allows you to easily compare any message mapping with any other, even across other PI/PO systems (sample_comparison). Migration projects especially can benefit, since large PI/PO installations will likely have many mappings that are slight variations of others. UDO lets you understand the differences and consider rationalising your mappings. And with our new Message Mapping Similarity Analysis you can now compare all mappings against all others, and group them according to similarity, allowing you to to review which are 90% similar (selectable from 50% to 100%).

Our first version of UDO was available in 2012, and supported PI 7.0 and upwards – we believe it was the first commercially available software in this space. We are continually improving UDO and adding new functionality – check out the UDO Release Notes.

UDO Benefits

Operations & Support TeamCost ReductionComplianceCustomer Satisfaction
Complete visibility of all PI/PO interfaces, along with search, sort and filter functionality on all the DIR objects, and including Operation Mappings. Easily exported to Excel.
The text search across mappings can be used to find where sensitive data, such as GDPR relevant data, is being mapped.
Update your interface catalog via an UDO extract to Excel, so interface meta-data can be easily maintained. This can be done for ICOs at Receiver level.
General housekeeping tasks easily accomplished - for instance identify unused interfaces and unused objects.
ESR Comparison of objects across PI systems helps with compliance of transport and change management processes and reduces risk.
Review Interface message volumes, comparing 2 time periods (months or years).
Directoy Comparison across the whole PI landscape helps you to identify where interfaces have been configured.
Visibility of all certificates, including expiry date
Interface Design, Developments & ReviewCost ReductionComplianceCustomer Satisfaction
A design/development review can be performed quickly by looking at the documentation generated. Any 'interesting' developments or departures from naming conventions will be more visible, and should be reviewed before transporting.

Quickly identify in which Scenarios, ICOs and iFlows a particular mapping is being used.
The Search Text in Mappings feature allows you to search for a string across all Message Mappings, XSLT and Java Mappings and UDFs. This is useful, for instance, to identify in which mappings a particular UDF has been used.
Quickly document all interfaces automatically, using your own custom template including your company logo. You can configure for the level of detail required. Especially useful for Agile integration projects! Also, 'Receiver centric' ICO documentation can be generated, for specific receivers in an ICO.
PI/PO Migration to a new Integration PlatformCost ReductionComplianceCustomer Satisfaction
Identify which interfaces need to be migrated - extract message volumes for all your interfaces from your central Adapter Engine, as well as your non-central AEs. This helps you determine which Scenarios, ICOs, and iFlows are no longer used.
When moving from SAP PI/PO to another platform, the use of the UDO's Automatic Documentation Generation feature will make life much easier.
UDO's Message Mapping Documentation will help you to quickly understand how your mappings are working.
UDO's unique Message Mapping Comparison, together with the Message Mapping Similarity Analysis, helps you to rationalise your mappings.
The UDO Migration Assessment Report will help you to understand your PI/PO interface complexity, helping you with planning your migration project, and with reducing effort.

UDO allows you to extract all interface data as an XML document, including all SLD, ESR, and DIR information, for each Scenario, ICO and iFlow. This can then be imported into your EA tool.
Retail Companies and B2BCost ReductionComplianceCustomer Satisfaction
Trading Partner Management (TPM) objects are also extracted (Profiles and Agreements), bringing UDO's many benefits to our Retail customers.
